Basic characteristics of honed tube production: The basic characteristics of honed tube production are as follows: the tube material before cold deformation and the work-in-progress after the cumulative cold deformation reaches a certain level need to go through a series of preparation work before continuing cold deformation in order to eliminate work hardening and other needs, so there are many processes; the tube material usually undergoes multiple cold deformations from putting into production to being processed into finished products, and the entire production process often includes multiple production cycles composed of preparation processes and deformation processes, which are repeated, resulting in a long production cycle and large metal consumption; the equipment is mostly arranged individually, and production is generally intermittent. The tube material must be carefully inspected. Its surface must not have harmful defects such as wrinkles, cracks, scars, scratches, etc.; the dimensions must meet certain requirements. For example, when using hot-rolled finished tubes, the outer diameter tolerance is about ±1-1.5%, the thickness tolerance is about -(10-15)% and +(10-12.5)%, and the bending degree is generally not more than 1.5-2 mm/m; the ends must be flat and free of burrs; if there are burrs, they must be removed, which is especially important for cold-rolled tubes. In addition, the chemical composition and mechanical properties of the tube material must comply with the provisions in the technical conditions. Generally, the surface of the tube material should be pickled first and then inspected. Minor defects can be ground. For grinding external surface defects, peeling lathes, centerless grinders, portable or hanging grinders can be used. The grinding of internal surface defects can be carried out on internal grinding machines such as internal boring machines. Since surface defects will continue to expand during the cold deformation process, and with the reduction of pipe diameter in production, the grinding of internal surface defects becomes more difficult, so the surface defects of the tube material should be eliminated as much as possible before cold processing.
